This client-side explorer searches and spatially explores coal mine-plan catalogue records from the Mining Remediation Authority (MRA) collection surfaced through the joint BGS Mine Plans Catalogue.
Where the supplied Sheet_number follows the MRA numeric National Grid convention (for example 44 4803), it is decoded to the corresponding 2 km × 1 km British National Grid flat sheet. The example resolves to the sheet spanning E448000–450000 / N403000–404000. Records carrying 99 9999 or other non-standard sheet values remain fully searchable and exportable but are not assigned invented geometry.
This build contains 98,447 MRA catalogue records, including 19,610 records in 4,190 mapped 2 km × 1 km sheets.
The catalogue and scan links originate from the Mining Remediation Authority / British Geological Survey Mine Plans service. MRA's current scanned-image terms state that its digital mine-plan content is not released under the Open Government Licence and remains subject to the Authority's specific terms of use. Users should read those terms before reproducing or reusing scanned plans.
The map uses Leaflet with Esri ArcGIS Online basemap tiles. Basemap, catalogue and scan content remain subject to their respective providers' terms.
